About WSD

World Steel Dynamics is a "Strategic Information Service" providing critical and new perspectives on possible and probable steel industry developments. WSD regularly analyzes and publishes reports on steel prices, steelmakers' costs, steel supply/demand and steel finances. WSD also undertakes customized steel research assignments, specialized in-depth studies, private consulting studies and investment banking assessments.

WSD's steel experience, steel database and availability of steel statistics are unmatched. In performing steel forecasts, WSD seeks to understand, among other things, how the "pricing power" of steel companies the world over will be impacted by changes in the steel industry's structure. WSD has a demonstrated history of almost always being ahead of the pricing curve. The WSD international client list includes major integrated and non-integrated steel companies, steel users, equipment and raw material suppliers, financial institutions, money managers, government agencies, metal traders, steel service centers and trade associations.

WSD also offers management consulting at the steel buyer/seller interface. On a confidential and "hands-on" basis, WSD advises clients on the approaches that may prove useful to improving their steel buying and selling performance, while at the same time reducing risk.

Meet The World Steel Dynamics® Team

Peter F. Marcus, a steel securities analyst, is founder of World Steel Dynamics and a consultant to the steel industry. He began his career on Wall Street in 1961 with L.F. Rothschild & Co. In early 1999, after 28 years at PaineWebber, Peter with his World Steel Dynamics staff formed their own separate and independent company. Peter graduated from Cornell University in 1960 and received a MBA from New York University in 1965.

Karlis M. Kirsis, has researched the steel industry for more than 35 years, since 1978 in partnership with Peter Marcus. Karlis is responsible for coordinating WSD's business, publishing and marketing operations. He oversees the research projects of its staff and authors his own studies. Karlis has an engineering degree from Northeastern University and a MBA from the Columbia Business School.

Philipp Englin joined World Steel Dynamics in 2008 and has been developing the WSD Global Steel Information System - a suite of strategic information tools aimed at capturing and modeling key aspects of the global steel industry. Phillip is also the point man on WSD's consulting work. Philipp's introduction to the steel industry came as a member of Emerson Electric's steel procurement team where he was responsible for closely tracking global market developments. Mr. Englin holds bachelors degrees in mechanical engineering & philosophy from Carnegie Mellon University and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh.

Adam rejoined World Steel Dynamics in 2017 where he currently holds the position of Managing Director. During his time at World Steel Dynamics, Adam has been instrumental in the development of World Steel Dynamics's Global Steel Information System (GSIS), including extensive analytical models for steelmakers' metallics and steelmakers' production costs. Currently, Adam is working on developing data and reporting products dedicated to in-depth analysis of the North American steel market.
